Ch-ch-changes, pretty soon now you’re gonna get a little older

#2 a partir do universo de Javier Nuñez Gásco

Senhoras e senhores!
Esta é uma tourada sem sangue. A arena está cheia e todos celebram.
A multidão enlouquece com a espera. As pessoas gritam, bradam e vociferam.

You've left us up to our necks in it...

Changes
David Bowie

I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't tell t hem to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Where's your shame
You've left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can't trace time

Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace I'm going through

When are people gonna wake up and realize that there’s no such thing as “just boy” or “just girl”? People ask: “why do you wear make-up?” I say: “I wear make-up the same reason I take a shit.” My body tells me to take a shit, my mind tells me to put on make-up. What people fail to realize is that it’s not what you wear, it’s not what you put on your face that makes you who you are - it’s what’s within your head that makes you who you are. And unfortunately, not a lot of people have a lot in their head.
Because the thing that really matters it that you find it out yourself, it is about you.
So they leave what they put on to define them, ok? They leave their clothing to define them. Now… have you ever wondered the difference between pants, you know, jeans and a dress? And why one’s for a man and one’s for a woman? It’s ok for a woman to wear pants, isn’t it? But it’s not ok for a man to wear a dress. Have you ever thought about why? I mean, think about it, it’s just fabric, people! It’s just design!
I can´t bring myself to despise people who do things just because they do things, which actually sometimes is in great contrast to what I think myself. I don’t have to like the work. I don’t have to care about it. I don’t even have to understand it. I like the variety, I don’t want them to be the same.
That’s the difference! And tell me what…it’s just…the difference is design, ok? What’s the difference between man and woman? Design! One grows more hair than the other, one has a piece of flesh the other doesn’t have, it´s design, ok?
This sounds so simple but it’s actually very difficult for people to feel comfortable with that. It’s not that they feel it’s bad, or naughty, or unworthy; it’s often because the thing that you’re best at is the thing you value least. So permission has to do with helping somebody recognize that the thing that they do, that’s easy to them, is the thing that they should do.
And more than that it’s about being a man or a woman, it’s about being a person…a good person, ok? But a lot of people don’t care about if someone’s a good person. They care about what they can make fun of, ok? To make themselves look better.
And there are things that you can’t learn except by learning.
And you know, as far as I see it…my dick doesn’t define me, my dick doesn’t define my soul…and that’s how it is.
And you need time for this; it’s built on trust. And this is a very complex kind of discourse. And it’s not to do with grand ideas.
If I wanna wear make-up, I’m going to!
I never thought anybody should have to justify anything, I don’t understand that. The idea of being able to talk about what you do, that I think is interesting. But the idea that that equals justification, that’s very different. I’m completely opposed to that idea.
This is how I see myself, therefore, this is how you’re gonna see me.
That’s the thing that makes it real, and that’s the thing that the thing that makes it dangerous and that’s the thing that makes it vibrant. Those are the things that make it exciting and emotional. That’s where everything that makes it important comes from. That doesn’t come from finding the right moral route.

It’s about creating yourself, not finding yourself.
