Dieter Lesage, adaptação Nuno Fernandes
You are an artist and that means: you’re a dreamer, you’re a clown, you don’t do it for the money. That is what some people think. It is a great excuse not to pay you for all the thoughts you have. So what happens is that you, as an artist, put ideas into projects, put money into projects that others will show in their museum, in their Kunsthalle, in their exhibition space, in their gallery. So you are an investor, a thinker. You take intellectual risks. You take financial risks. You speculate on yourself as a critically kick ass. You’re a transcender trade. You cannot put all your research efforts into one kind of artistic stocks. You link the risks you take. You manage the reflections you make. You want, you buy, you distribute, you make, you made, you publish, you invite, you welcome, you work, you move, you take, you prepare, you announce, you thank, you introduce, you explain, you’re peer, you apply, you discuss, you ask, you tell, you are. I would say it differently. You know. I say you suffer from a gentle schizophrenia. I say: rise! Rise against the image of the artist as a dreamer. Rise against the image of the artist as a clown. Rise against what some people think. And make them pay attention to all the thoughts you have. But continue to develop your thoughts your way. Beyond the Academy.
